How we review casual dating websites
Last updated October 14, 2026
We score each site out of 10 across five weighted areas. The same checklist applies to every brand, and scores are reviewed whenever prices or features change.
| Area | Weight | What we look at |
|---|---|---|
| Member pool | 25% | Claimed size, activity in major US metros, gender and member-type mix |
| Match success | 25% | How easy it is to find and contact relevant people, reply culture, search tools |
| Value for money | 20% | Real billed prices, what the free tier allows, renewal terms, refunds |
| Privacy & safety | 20% | Anonymous profiles, photo controls, verification, reporting, data record |
| Ease of use | 10% | Sign-up, design, mobile experience, support |
For each review we read the full pricing, terms and privacy pages, check what the free tier allows, compare features across brands, and weigh feedback from public user reviews and our readers. We date-stamp every price because these sites change their offers often. Brands cannot buy a place or a score; read our affiliate disclosure and the full review methodology.
How scores are calculated
Each area gets a sub-score out of 10. We multiply each by its weight and add them up to get the overall score. When a brand changes its prices or features, we re-check the affected areas and update the date on the review.
What can lower a score
- Hidden or confusing prices, or plans that are hard to cancel
- Large numbers of fake or inactive profiles reported by members
- Weak privacy controls or a poor data security record
- Pushy upsells that block basic use
Independence
Affiliate commissions fund the site, but they never change a score or the order of the ranking. If a brand we rank stops meeting our standards, we drop it, whatever it pays.
